Some things take patience, and growing pineapples is one of those things. It’s easy, but it could take up to two years for one pineapple to develop on a single plant. You can try to grow your own from one you get at the grocery store.
Remove the top from the pineapple by simply
twisting while applying downward pressure.
Strip the leaves from the bottom inch of the
crown and cut off the fleshy fruit to expose
more root area. Set it aside for a few days
to allow cut side to heal and dry out.
Plant the crown in well-draining soil, cut
side down. Place in a sunny windowsill
and keep moist. It will take a few months
for the plant to root. You will notice new
leaves emerging from the center.
Enjoy a beautiful houseplant while you wait for the fruit to develop.
